Welcome to Taney Baseball!

Registration for the 2020 Taney baseball season remains underway. Some divisions, like AAA, have reached their capacity and are accepting registrations only for the wait list. All others are nearing full capacity.

Once registration closes, Taney will begin the process of assigning players to teams. Until then, here's some information that will help you to prepare for the upcoming season.

Calendar

Attached to this message, you will find a 2020 calendar, which includes important events such as Parent Orientation, Opening Day, Playoffs, and more. While it may be useful to have this calendar available as a reference, we ask that you please make use of our website, www.taneybaseball.com.

New for the 2020 baseball season, we have migrated to a new web platform that we hope will prove to be much more user friendly. Of note, it includes a calendar that may be accessed by clicking on the "EVENTS" tab on the website's homepage.

Please note, the full calendar is visible only if you are logged into the website.

Team Home Pages

Once team assignments are made, you will have access to team-specific pages that include a calendar that will list all of your child's games and practices. You can use this page to import the dates of all games and practices to calendar applications.

You will also be able to use your Team Homepage to communicate with other team members.

Volunteers Needed!

Taney relies on volunteers to do everything, including coach all of our teams. Unfortunately, we are still significantly short of volunteers needed to coach the teams in our Pee Wee and Tee Ball divisions. If parents do not step up to coach, we will need to cut teams and fewer children (possibly even your own!) will be able to participate.

A parent is required to attend all practices so why not volunteer to coach your child's team? From experience, we can assure you that your child will absolutely adore the fact that their mom or dad is their Pee Wee or Tee Ball coach.

Parent Orientation

Taney's Parent Orientation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at the Palumbo Recreational Center, 725 S.10th Street.

At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to hear from our league administrators and commissioners to learn about what's in store for your child's upcoming season of Taney Baseball. Taney representatives will be on hand to answer all your questions ranging from what equipment your child will need, the differences of play between our divisions, and what it takes to coach youth baseball. Any and all questions will be answered!

Player Evaluations, March 7th and 8th

If your child is in our AAA, Minors, or Majors Divisions (baseball players ages 7 through 12 as of 5/1/2020), please plan to attend Player Evaluations that are scheduled for the weekend of March 7 and 8, 2020.

At present, no evaluations will be required for our 13-15 Division.

Evaluations permit coaches to observe the players and ensure evenly-balanced teams.

Even if your child remains on a waiting list, attendance at Player Evaluations is MANDATORY.

Saturday, March 7th @ the Phield House (814 Spring Garden Street)
11:00am to 1:00pm: AAA Player Evaluations
1:00pm to 3:00pm: Minors and Majors Player Evaluations

Sunday, March 8th @ the Phield House (814 Spring Garden Street)
3:00pm to 5:00pm: Minors and Majors Player Evaluations
5:00pm to 7:00pm: AAA Player Evaluations

AAA, Minors and Majors Team Assignments

Players are assigned to teams in Taney's AAA, Minors and Majors Divisions via a draft. Drafts will occur over the weekend of March 14th and 15th with team rosters being posted shortly thereafter.

Tee Ball Team Assignments

If your child is in Tee-Ball (ages 5 or 6 as of 5/1/2020), players will be assigned teams in mid-March. Expect to hear from your coach around the third week in March. Practices will begin immediately thereafter (weather permitting).

Pee Wee Team Assignments

If your child is in Pee Wee (ages 3 or 4 as of 5/1/2020), players will be assigned teams in late March. Expect to hear from your coach the last week in March. Pee Wee teams meet for the first time on Opening Day (Saturday, April 4, 2020), when your child receives a uniform and meets coaches and teammates. Pee Wee teams also parade around the field on Opening Day – it’s so much fun!

Pee Wee play begins on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Teams play every Sunday, weather permitting, with the exception of Easter Sunday and Memorial Day weekend, through June 9th.

Start of Practices

Weather permitting, practices will begin no earlier than the week of March 16, 2020. Once team assignments are made you will be hearing from your children's coaches and commissioners regarding practice times and locations.

Opening Day

All of Taney's baseball divisions will begin play of regular season games over the weekend of April 4th.
