Baseball Divisions

Taney hosts a variety of baseball programs for boys and girls ages 3 to 12. The registration fee is $195 per child with a family discount of $10 applied for each additional sibling. Scholarships are available in cases of financial hardship.

Pee Wee
 Division (Ages 3 and 4)

Pee Wee is a low-key first introduction to baseball, for 3- and 4-year-old players as of April 30th of the current calendar year. The kids play for about 45 minutes to an hour every Sunday to learn the basics of the game. No official games are played against other teams.

Teams are assembled by age (with consideration to gender, neighborhood, and other factors), and we aim for a span of perhaps 6 months or so on a given team. Actual games against other teams begin in our Tee-Ball program, for players who are 5 or 6.

Pee Wee teams play at "Taney" (Markward) Field, at approximately 26th & Pine Streets or Palumbo Field, at 10th & Fitzwater. Once your child is on a team, he or she will play at the same field at the same time every Sunday. As a general guideline, teams of 3-year-old's play at 9:00 am, while teams of 4-year-old's play at 10:00 am, (although occasionally there are exceptions). This allows the older teams to begin playing mini-games against each other toward the end of the season.

Pee Wee teams begin play on the Sunday of Opening Weekend, and play every Sunday at the same time, same field, weather permitting, except for Memorial Day weekend and Easter Sunday, until Closing Day.

Tee Ball Division (Ages 5 and 6)

Our Tee-Ball Division is for children who are 5 or 6 as of April 30th of the current calendar year.

One hour-long practice is held per week. Practices generally begin the last week of March, so that the players are ready for games on Opening Weekend.

Tee-Ball has a 12-game season, and all games are on weekends. There are approximately 8 or 9 weekends in the season (we don't play on Memorial Day weekend or on Easter Sunday). On the last two weekends of the season, games are played on a Little League-sized diamond. To prepare our players for higher levels of play, the use of a pitching machine is introduced over these final two weekends.

If a Tee-Ball game is rained-out, it is not rescheduled. There are no standings or playoffs.

AAA Division (Ages 7 and 8)

Our AAA Division is for children who are 7 or 8 as of April 30th of the current calendar year.

Two practices are held per week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Practices generally begin the last week of March, so that the players are ready for games on Opening Weekend.

AAA plays a 12-game season plus playoffs. Games consist of six innings with the first four being machine pitch and the last two being player pitch.

If a AAA game is rained out, it is rescheduled.

Minors Division (Ages 9 and 10)

Our Minors Division is for children ages 9 or 10 as of April 30th of the current calendar year.

Two practices are held per week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Practices generally begin the last week of March, so that the players are ready for games on Opening Weekend.

Minors play a 12-game season plus playoffs. Games consist of six innings with all innings being player pitch.

If a Minors game is rained out, it is rescheduled.

Majors Division (Ages 11 and 12)

Our Majors Division is for children ages 11 or 12 as of April 30th of the current calendar year.

Two practices are held per week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Practices generally begin the last week of March, so that the players are ready for games on Opening Weekend.

Majors play a 12-game season plus playoffs. Games consist of six innings with all innings being player pitch.

If a Minors game is rained out, it is rescheduled.

13-15 Division (Ages 13 to 15)

Our 13-15 division provides the opportunity to play baseball for middle schoolers, junior high and high school age players. Your child will learn and compete at a higher level on the regulation-size baseball field. Practice will take place on interval times and teams will play 12-14 games plus playoffs.

Registration for 2020 Baseball Season is CLOSED

No Programs are Currently Displayed

There are no programs or divisions available at the moment. Please contact your club administrator with any questions.

Age Requirements for Each Division

When registering, you will only be given the option to register your child for the division for which they are age eligible.

The age ranges for each division are as follows:

Pee Wee: Born May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2017
Tee Ball: Born May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2015
AAA: Born May 1, 2011 to April 30, 2013
Minors: Born May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2011
Majors: Born May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2009

As a rule, Taney does not permit children to play down a division. In other words, a child eligible for AAA may not play Tee Ball.

Assuming your child is otherwise eligible for play in one of Taney's divisions, Taney does permit children to play up one year. In other words, if you child is 10 and is therefore eligible to play in Taney's Minors Division, they may be permitted to play in Taney's Majors Division. A child otherwise not eligible for play (e.g., born after April 30, 2017) may not play up into Pee Wee.

Parents may petition Taney for a waiver allowing their child to play one year ahead, and such permission will be evaluated by Taney on a case by case basis. Such determination will be made based not just on the basis of skill level, but also taking into account the maturity level of the player.

After registering your child for an age-appropriate division, please email [email protected] indicating the name of your child and your preference to have he or she play in a higher division.

Friend and Coach Requests

If possible and not guaranteed, friend and/or coach requests may be granted for Taney's Pee Wee and Tee Ball Divisions. Friend requests are NOT honored for any division AAA or higher.

Please note that ANY request must be MUTUAL between ALL parties. If you are requesting that your child play with a friend or for a specific coach, please be sure that the friend or coach requests your child as well.

In addition, it is Taney's policy to limit friend requests to no more than groups of four for each team.
