Founded in 1994, Taney Youth Baseball Association provides an opportunity for over 750 boys and girls ages 3 to 15 to play baseball and softball in downtown Philadelphia. Taney Baseball is more than just learning how to play the game. It's also about learning how to play on a team and have fun doing it.
As an instructional league, we emphasize teaching baseball fundamentals, good sportsmanship and teamwork over competition and wins and losses. We encourage all players to do their best, improve their skills, and be good teammates. We seek coaches who will help players develop a positive attitude about the game, their teammates and opponents, and coaches and umpires. We invite parents to be a part of the Taney Baseball community by coaching, sponsoring a team, or just helping out at practices or games. Taney Baseball is a wonderful opportunity to "give back" to your community while enjoying time with your child.

Coaches attend Training Clinics with Mike Bucci, a former Major League Baseball player, coach and scout, and former coordinator of the Phillies Youth Baseball Camps. Mike evaluates every player at tryouts and offers coaching clinics for all coaches and pitching clinics for players.
All players are issued uniforms, which they may keep. All players receive trophies, with special recognition for the championship and runner-up teams in each league. Professional umpires are hired for all baseball and softball games. Tournament teams are selected by tryouts for post-season competition. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at games, practice or league activities.
