Welcome to the Taney Youth Baseball Association

2012 marks the 19th season that Taney Youth Baseball Association offers "fun, instruction, good sportsmanship and teamwork" to Philadelphia youth. In 2011, TYBA offered baseball, softball and tee-ball to over 950 boys and girls from 3 years old to 15 years old.

SCHEDULES NOW AVAILABLE
Full league and individual team schedules are now available for Tee Ball, AAA, Minors, Majors, Softball 9-12, Softball 13-15, Baseball 13-15 and Baseball 13. Click on the Schedules page on the left.

Click on the Schedules page on the left for makeup games for games postponed due to rain on Sunday, April 22nd.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted here regarding any game postponements or cancellations. Call 215-563-1847 for a recorded message of any weather updates. Depending on the timing and amount of rain, we will notify all managers by email of any weather-related decisions as soon as we are able. In very clear cases we will notify families directly by email.

OPENING CEREMONIES
Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 season took place on Saturday, April 14, 2012. All teams met at Markward (Taney) Field for a welcome to the 2012 season, and to thank TYBA's generous sponsors. Pee Wee Tee Ball teams paraded around the field. Radio station B101 pumped up the volume with music, giveaways and the Buzz Bee! Tastebuds Market and La Colombe Coffee provided snacks, coffee and beverages. Thanks to all who made Opening Day 2012 a great success!

2012 BASEBALL-SOFTBALL-TEE BALL REGISTRATION UPDATE (May 7th)

Majors (11-12 year olds) is full with 8 teams of 12 and has started a waiting list.
Minors (9-10 year olds) is full with 9 teams of 12 and has started a waiting list.

AAA (7-8 year olds) is full with 12 teams of 13 and has started a waiting list.
13-15 Baseball is full and has started a waiting list.

Softball (13-15 year olds) is full and has started a waiting list.
Softball (9-12 year olds) remains open with limited spots left.
Tee Ball (5-6 year olds) remains open.
Pee Wee Tee Ball (3-4 year olds) remains open.

Players need to register to be placed on the waiting list. Do not pay at checkout; select "alternate payment" at bottom of checkout page and payment will be made once player is placed on a team.

BOB HYLAND MEMORIAL FUND

As registration opens, we are launching the Bob Hyland Memorial Fund in honor of Bob Hyland, pictured above, who passed away on October 6th. Bob was the heart and the soul of TYBA for many years, right up until his death, and he is missed by all of us. In his name, we have established the Fund to continue his legacy of service to Taney youth. We ask for your support in honoring Bob and helping to create a lasting legacy in his name on behalf of Taney youth. TANEY BASKETBALL FINISHES ITS SECOND YEAR

Taney Basketball ended its second year on February 26th with the following teams winning championships:
NCAA 6-7 year olds: UNLV Runnin' Rebels defeated Tennessee Volunteers
NCAA 9-10 year olds: Maryland Terrapins defeated Virginia Cavaliers
WNBA 9-12 year olds: Chicago Sky defeated Los Angeles Sparks
NBA 9-10 year olds: Oklahoma City Thunder defeated Minnesota Grizzlies
NBA 11-12 year olds: Phoenix Suns defeated New York Knicks

The final day also included All Star Games in each league. A great final weekend for Taney Basketball!

Congratulations to all the players in Taney Basketball this year for playing hard, having fun and learning some basketball and sportsmanship along the way. Many thanks to our coaches, referees, scorekeepers, sponsors and all the families who helped make it happen.
